Interior Design
The interiors were styled with a confident use of colour and texture, reflecting the client’s personality while keeping the flat elegant and timeless. Bold tones such as deep burgundy and moss green were paired with natural timber flooring and bespoke joinery to add depth and warmth.
A fully fitted kitchen and utility brought modern functionality, while custom storage solutions — from full-height cabinetry to integrated shelving — ensured the basement space worked hard without feeling cluttered. Lighting design was equally important, with layered ambient and task lighting creating atmosphere throughout.
All Trades Expertise
Delivering a project of this scale in a Georgian basement required coordination across every discipline. Our in-house and subcontracted teams — including joinery, plastering, electrics, plumbing, tiling, and decoration — worked under one point of project management. This all-trades approach allowed us to handle damp-proofing, service upgrades, structural reinforcements, and finishing details smoothly, keeping the renovation on programme and on budget.
Construction
The build phase involved full strip-out, remedial works to basement fabric, upgrades to insulation and services, and the installation of new joinery and finishes. Careful sequencing of trades ensured efficient progress despite basement access restrictions. Timber floors were restored and re-laid, feature joinery units were installed, and each room was finished with a tailored blend of colour and lighting to bring the design vision to life.
Renovation and Design Results
The completed Edinburgh flat is a true transformation: once a dark and underused basement, it now feels warm, functional, and full of character. The new interiors celebrate craftsmanship and colour, while architectural improvements make the space flow naturally and work for modern living. The result is a home that is as practical as it is beautiful — a stylish retreat rooted in the heritage of Edinburgh’s New Town.

Architectural Design
Working closely with our architect partner, we reimagined the basement layout to improve flow, light, and usability. The redesign introduced better connections between living, dining, and kitchen areas, alongside discreet structural interventions to create balance and proportion.
Original features were carefully retained, while alterations were designed to blend seamlessly into the historic setting.
